2009

Fitzroy Showroom

In 2009, Mark Vasserman discovered the perfect spot to bring his vision to life—a showroom nestled on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, one of the coolest and most eclectic streets in the world. Known for its creative energy, vibrant culture, and artistic flair, Gertrude Street was the ideal backdrop to showcase bold and innovative lighting designs. Since opening its doors, this flagship location has been the heart of About Space Lighting, drawing inspiration from the street’s dynamic spirit and connecting with a community that values both design and individuality. From that first showroom, About Space has grown and evolved, but the journey that began on Gertrude Street continues to shine brightly

 

2010

2BY Linear Pendant Range

In 2010, Mark introduced the 2by Linear Pendant range, a design that seamlessly blended organic inspiration with practical functionality. Crafted from FSC-certified timber and proudly made in Melbourne, the 2by range was and continues to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and exceptional craftsmanship. Its clean lines and natural aesthetic quickly resonated with architects and designer making it a versatile choice for both residential and commercial spaces. Over the years, the 2by range has evolved, solidifying its place as one of About Space Lighting’s core products—a testament to timeless design, local manufacturing, and a dedication to creating lighting that’s as beautiful as it is responsible.

 

 

2011

Bundle Pendant

2011 marked the debut of the Bundle and Custom Bundle, a lighting solution that celebrates individuality and the captivating orb aesthetic—years before they dominated magazines and Instagram feeds. Made in Melbourne, Bundle introduced a flexible, modular approach, while the Custom Bundle offered designers and customers the freedom to craft bespoke lighting installations through a choice of glass styles and configurations. Over a decade later, the Custom Bundle remains a favourite, proving that timeless innovation never goes out of style.

Toledo Pendant

Introduced in 2012, the Toledo Pendant quickly became a hallmark of minimalist design, celebrated for its clean, beautiful light and understated elegance. Over the years, it has been thoughtfully refined in both function and form, evolving into one of About Space Lighting’s core products. With a range of glass sizes, colors, and finishes available, the Toledo Pendant is designed with versatility at its heart, effortlessly complementing a variety of interiors.
