Forte Wall Light

In 2019, About Space introduced the Forte Wall Light, capturing the ongoing orb obsession in design with its striking round opal glass aesthetic. Though not initially compatible with Yosh glass, its sleek combination of curved opal glass and bold form made it an instant favourite. The Forte’s appeal was further enhanced by its 12V compatibility, making it a perfect choice for bathrooms where both style and safety are paramount. This versatile wall light quickly became a standout in the range, blending modern elegance with practical functionality to elevate interiors with its timeless design.

Forte with Interchangeable Yosh

2020 saw the evolution of the Forte Wall Light, now compatible with the range of interchangeable Yosh glass, elevating its versatility and appeal. This new feature allowed customers and designers to customise their Forte fixtures by selecting from a range of Yosh glass options, introducing playful textures and dynamic aesthetics to suit various interior styles. The ability to interchange glass not only enhanced the design’s flexibility but also solidified the Forte as a go-to piece for those seeking personalised and innovative lighting solutions. This evolution marked a pivotal moment in About Space’s commitment to functional, design-forward lighting.

 

 

2021

Hobart Showroom

In 2021, About Space expanded its presence beyond the mainland by opening its second interstate showroom in the heart of Hobart. Bringing bold, innovative designs to Tasmania, the Hobart showroom was a significant milestone, marking About Space's commitment to connecting with creative communities across Australia. Nestled in the charming "Apple Isle," the showroom offers a curated collection of unique lighting solutions, catering to the region’s growing appetite for modern, sustainable design.

 

 

 

2022

Swinburne Partnership & ACMI Collaboration

In 2022, About Space proudly launched two significant collaborations that strengthened our ties to the design industry and celebrated creative innovation. Partnering with Swinburne University, we began an annual program inviting students to respond to a design brief, with the winning concepts going into production and being sold through About Space—a platform to nurture and showcase the next generation of lighting designers. That same year, we collaborated with ACMI to create a bespoke light inspired by the Light: Works from Tate’s Collection exhibition. “Our collaboration with ACMI looked to champion the lighting design industry and how light can enhance our daily experiences, from functional task lighting to sculptural masterpieces,” said Steven Rollis, Product Designer. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation, education, and the celebration of light as both a functional and artistic medium.

 

 

2023

Canberra Showroom & Lit Awards

2023 saw the doors open at our newest showroom in Fyshwick, Canberra, tapping into the vibrant design community that has made this area a hotspot for architects, designers, and makers. Fyshwick has transformed into a dynamic hub, with its mix of showrooms, workshops, and studios that cater to a diverse range of design needs. It's a place where innovation seamlessly blends with practicality, drawing both established professionals and emerging talents.

The year continued on a high as our Yona Pendant was named Winner in the Illuminated Home Décor category at the prestigious LIT Awards, while our LOTUS Pendant received an Honourable Mention in the Ambient Lighting category, further cementing About Space’s reputation for innovative and design-forward lighting solutions.

Brisbane Showroom

In 2024, About Space took another exciting step by opening our third interstate showroom in Brisbane, marking a major milestone in our national expansion. Located in the vibrant Fortitude Valley, this showroom offers a dynamic space to showcase our innovative lighting designs to the growing design community in Queensland. With its thriving creative scene and eclectic mix of design studios, Fortitude Valley is the perfect backdrop for About Space to connect with local designers, architects, and homeowners.
