About: Concept Commercial Interiors HQ

In the world of commercial interiors, light is more than illumination—it’s experience. At Concept, lighting is treated not as an afterthought, but as a foundational element of every project. And when it comes to bringing that vision to life, the team consistently turns to About Space.

From head offices to creative studios, Concept’s work reflects a commitment to thoughtful, human-centric design—where lighting becomes the silent architect of mood, focus, and connection.

Lighting as a Design Tool, Not Just a Utility

“Lighting sets the tone of a space—it shapes how people feel, interact, and perform,” says Gemma Daskalou, Senior Design Associate at Concept. Their approach? Treating light like an emotional language. Whether it’s highlighting architectural features, creating soft zones for relaxation, or energising workspaces, lighting is intentionally layered and tuned to enhance the space's purpose.

Concept’s signature interiors often feature a mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting—designed to change throughout the day, in harmony with the people using them. This careful balance of natural and artificial light is fundamental to their design process.

Understanding the Brief—And the People

Before any lighting plan is drawn, Concept starts by diving deep into the client’s vision. What will the space be used for? How should it feel at different times of day? What emotional response should it evoke?

“It’s about translating a mood or objective into a lighting strategy,” the team explains. They consider everything from energy efficiency to emotional tone, using About Space’s diverse range to build custom solutions that feel personal, purposeful, and polished.

Lessons in Light—What Clients Often Miss

One of the biggest surprises for clients? Just how transformative lighting can be.

People often underestimate how colour temperature, shadow, and source placement can influence the feel of a room. Cool lights might boost productivity, while warmer tones can create intimacy and calm. “We always advocate for layered lighting. One ceiling light can’t do it all,” says Concept. “Lighting should feel like a story—not a spotlight.”

Lighting the Concept HQ: A Study in Atmosphere

When it came to their own HQ, Concept turned their philosophy inward. The vision was simple: depth, mood, and a little romance. Using warm tones and subtle up lighting, they created dramatic moments without sacrificing function. The lighting feels lived-in—never sterile or overdone.

In the library, clarity was key—ample natural light supported by targeted artificial sources ensures true colours and material finishes can be appreciated at any hour. In contrast, work zones are balanced and inviting, designed to promote both wellbeing and productivity.

Why About Space?

Concept’s relationship with About Space is more than professional—it’s built on trust, collaboration, and shared creative ambition.

“I’ve worked with About Space throughout my entire career,” shares the designer. “Their range, quality, and pricing are consistently brilliant. But more than that, they’re partners in every sense. Don, especially, has been an absolute legend—reliable, creative, and always going above and beyond.”

From mood-setting pendants to architectural feature lights, About Space offers the versatility and support Concept relies on to deliver across projects of every scale

Lighting is the invisible thread that ties a commercial interior together. With Concept’s thoughtful design and About Space’s exceptional lighting solutions, every project becomes a stage—where light frames function, shapes emotion, and brings a brand’s story to life.
