At About Space we recently had the privilege of partnering with Scope Projects to revamp the working space at 201 Kent St. This magnificent 1,330sqm area  presented us with an opportunity to create a modern and dynamic environment that aligns with the values of the contemporary workspace. Upon undertaking this project, we explored the importance of lighting in a working space and as a result we tailored our designs to meet each specific requirement of this transformative project. 

Understanding the Modern Working Environment:  

Modern working environments value productivity, employee well-being, and fostering a sense of community. Our collaboration with Scope Projects focused on revitalising 201 Kent St to reflect these values. By understanding the needs and aspirations of the client, we embarked on a journey to create a workspace that promotes creativity, collaboration, and a sense of purpose. 

Lighting is a crucial element in any working space, as it directly affects productivity, mood, and overall ambiance. Kent St features a welcoming and communal feel in its open plan design, and embodying that in the lighting was essential to the success of this project. When selecting lighting solutions, several key factors had to be considered: 

Task Lighting: Adequate illumination for individual workstations and collaborative areas is essential. We meticulously analysed the floor plan and identified areas where focused lighting was required, ensuring that employees could perform their tasks comfortably and efficiently. 

Ambient Lighting: Creating a welcoming and balanced atmosphere is crucial. We strategically placed ambient lighting fixtures to provide an even distribution of light throughout the space, reducing eye strain and enhancing the overall inviting atmosphere that the environment exuded. 

Accent Lighting: Highlighting key architectural features, focal points, and collaborative areas adds visual interest and promotes a sense of identity. Our design incorporated accent lighting to draw attention to the bespoke reception desk and central garden, creating a stunning visual impact upon arrival. 

Collaborating with Scope Projects to transform the working space at 201 Kent St was an exhilarating experience. By understanding the values of the modern working environment and carefully considering the importance of lighting, we successfully created an environment that promotes productivity, well-being, and collaboration.
