The Forma Pendant - a unique collaboration between About Space and Brigit Heller

In collaboration with local artist Brigit Heller, About Space has created a collection of show-stopping pendants - the Forma range. Made from mild steel wire, the art turned pendant light fittings have a natural rust black finish, which complements their organic shape.

Born in Switzerland, Brigit studied Design at Auckland University, before relocating to Australia to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.

Bridget’s work has been exhibited all over Australia and she has been the recipient of many art prizes, including the Nillumbik Art Award, the Toorak Place Award, the National Gallery of Victoria Trustees Award, the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, the McClelland Survey Award and the Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award.

Currently residing in rural Central Victoria, Briget’s work is inspired by the nature that surrounds her and reflects her concerns for the environment and our place in it. Traditional crafts play a big role in her work, as does recycled and reused materials.

Fashioned from mild steel, these striking biomorphic pendants reflect Briget’s interest in the natural world and feature irregular and organic shapes.

The team at About Space has worked with a number of clients looking to add a natural element to their projects.

One such project was the transformation of the C.ex Coffs International Stadium in Coffs Harbour. Given the stadium’s proximity to the coast, the interior design of the building celebrates the coastal and hinterland landscapes of the area, with furnishing and fixtures chosen to reflect the theme. The Forma pendants were a natural fit.

In another project, About Space worked with the Hilton Surfers Paradise to transform its Executive Lounge into a spectacular dining and leisure area.  Located on the 15th floor of the hotel with stunning views of the ocean and hinterland, the Forma pendants reflect and enhance the natural surroundings.

About Space has also worked with Queensland school St Paul’s. Awarded the Australian School of the Year at the national Educator Magazine Awards in 2019, St Paul’s is recognised as one of Australia’s most innovative schools. The school’s commitment to creativity is not only reflected in its unique approach to teaching, but also in the school's interior design, of which the Forma pendant plays a leading role.

If you’d like to speak to About Space about using the Forma range in your home or commercial space, please get in touch.
