That's when the sparks of innovation ignited, giving birth to our groundbreaking Leadership in Training (LIT) program. 

Growth and Progression for the About Space Team: 

At About Space, we firmly believe in fostering the growth of our people. We understand that true development extends beyond lighting sales and consultancy roles to encompass the realm of managers and leaders. It was during one of our leadership meetings that the need for a way to facilitate our team's growth became a central focus of discussion. We brainstormed ways to provide our team with the opportunities they deserved, and that's when the revolutionary idea of the LIT program was born. 

In true About Space spirit, our leadership team decided to build the LIT program in-house. With the combined expertise and vision of our leaders, we crafted an intensive six-month training program that delved into various aspects of leadership. The modules were meticulously designed to enhance leadership skills and inspire personal growth, ensuring that our team members were equipped with the necessary tools to embark on their own personal leadership journeys. 

As part of our commitment to their growth, we also made an exciting offer: upon successful completion of the LIT program, participants would have the opportunity to become Assistant Showroom Managers. This meant that they could immediately put their newly acquired skills into practice, taking on greater responsibilities and making a tangible impact within our business. 

Unlocking Leadership Potential: What is LIT all about? 

At the heart of the LIT program is a comprehensive exploration of what it means to be a leader. We delve into the nuances of leadership, examining the contrasts between managing versus leading. It's a captivating journey that helps the participating team members uncover their own unique leadership style and understand the behavioural aspects that define exceptional leaders. To keep things lively, we sprinkle in fun scenarios that ignite their imaginations and bring the lessons to life. 

Leadership is just the tip of the iceberg. In the LIT program, we go a step further and delve into the art of coaching. We equip our team members with the skills to facilitate meaningful conversations between leaders and their teams. By fostering an environment where everyone can openly discuss skill development, improvement, and personal growth, we cultivate a culture of continuous learning.

Thorough Preparation for Success:  

We leave no stone unturned when it comes to setting expectations for our future leaders. The LIT program covers all aspects of leadership, not just the how, but the why behind each responsibility. By providing a comprehensive understanding, we empower our team members to be well-prepared for any challenge that comes their way. And the results speak for themselves – at the culmination of the program, we proudly announced the appointment of two Assistant Showroom Managers who have embraced the challenge and showcased their true potential. 

Jay and Tony, two talented individuals from within our team, have soared to new heights as Showroom Assistant Managers, stepping up with confidence and making a significant impact. But they are not the only ones who have experienced incredible growth. Other participants have elevated their skill sets and gained fresh perspectives, bringing renewed energy and innovation to their roles. The feedback we have received from everyone involved in the program has been overwhelmingly positive and uplifting. The inaugural run of the LIT program was a resounding success, and it has only fuelled our enthusiasm to make future iterations even bigger and better. We are excited about the limitless opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to invest in our team's growth and development.
